Nick 'The Sticks' Robinson Drums/Percussion
Nick 'The Sticks' Robinson has been outpouring blood, sweat and tears, and driving various unfortunate neighbours crazy from behind his drum stool for over 10 years now. At 14 his face began to become known around the London Blues Jam Night scene, from which he got his first break with blues/rock guitarist Mickey Flynn and his 'Blues Machine Band'. His musical background is diverse, having toured Spain one summer with a 100 piece orchestra, played with the John Pinnell Jazz Band at the Royal Albert Hall, and also performed with a latin/rock percussion ensemble in the BBC Studios for the kids TV programme Blue Peter. The piece of music entitled 'Drumology 96' finds a place in the Guiness Book Of Records for being the largest ever piece of orchestrated percussional music, and yes, Mr Sticks does have a Gold Blue Peter Badge! Despite all this, its the pulse and driving energy of Rock n Roll music that brings Nick into his element. Nick uses a walnut Tama Starclassic drumkit, with his pride and joy (and secret weapon)! being his 13/5.5" DrumWorkshop craviotto one shell snare drum. His cymbals come mainly from the warm and colurful Zildjian A Custom range. Nick uses Senheiser E604s and Sure Beta 57s to mic his kit with an AKG kick mic. These are channeled out though his pre-set Studiomaster mixing desk with built in Alesis Quadraverb, to generate that distinct, thick but clear, 'Nick The Sticks' sound!
